so what had me confused is that I completely forgot about the compressed flash (what size is that thing? like 128mb?).

Ok so now it makes much more sense. Apparently what I did was cloning from the compressed flash to the internal 2gb SD. The external SD card is not running any OS at all, it's just for storage.

Uhh... glad we cleared that one, I was overwhelmed with confusion though mostly it's me to blame. I haven't turned the N810 on for more than 6 months I think...

Thank you pb.

Trust me its not all in my head either, I had to boot up my 810 and figure out which was which. It can be confusing. I am glad I could help you sort it out.

Personally I keep the flash pristine, not much installed, I boot to the external as my personal OS with all I use. Then I use the internal as my testbed I dont mind breaking. I keep 128MB fat partition on internal and external, but I really don't use it much.

EDIT

I just noticed you have 0 thanks, so let me be the first to thank you, > thanks button pressed!!

pb - sorry I need to drag you back to this but I'm having a tiny issue regarding boot again...

After performing the N810's over the air software upgrade it booted to the internal flash OS. While I'm running (cloned the OS) on the internal SD card as you remember...

Anyway, I ran that set-root-device command from the flash OS when it booted but I'm not getting any menu in the boot process. I'm guessing it probably messed something else during the upgrade (I think I remember having this issue before). Do you have any thoughts what is going on?

Thanks,
Liran.
