I had a N800 with OS2007. I tried to update the OS to OS2008. Just before it completed I got a failure, so now I have no OS at all.

When it boot I get the USB symbol and it goes away and then start rebooting again, again, ...

Background: I am on a widow xp system, I was using the XP install download. I tried calling Nokia and they said just send it back, which I don't plan on doing. I am a newbie to this device and will need some hand holding.

Any one have any idea on how to get os2008 reinstalled???? If now I have a very expensive paper weight in perfect condition.

Nothing is wrong. Just re-install it.

1. Plug the AC adapter in to have the battery fully charged.
2. Then try to download/install the OS again.

Thank you, nhanquy, for your wonderful sense of calm. As someone about to get my first maemo device, I've been antsy about what happens when it all goes paws up.

So here's a new user (albeit with a different device) in exactly that position, and I can feel the anxiety from here. Your calm, unruffled response instills a sense of confidence and assurance, as well as providing the necessary info.

The battery was full charged when I did down load. I believe I have tried it twice but I will try again. I do believe this rebooting I see won't let me start down load, but we will see.

Looks like you were right the third time was the charm. I now have os2008. It looks better than os2007. Now how do I get ride of the "Get Started" area on desktop.

Now if I can only get Tcl/Tk loaded but that is another problem.

Uncheck the applet in Desktop menu > Applets ? (DOn't remember exactly, lost the charger for my N810). :-)
