When you guys and gals refer to the N800/N700 as being bricked, does this mean that the device is totally useless - as in "I need to buy a new one"
OR

does it mean you have to start from scratch and reload the OS and then load and configure the device (which can be an UGH type of event?)

Thanks!

To me, bricked is a charming new word and what it means may still be evolving. However, to be truly bricked means to me that nothing can be done except perhaps by Nokia. Fortunately, I see references mainly to being bricked as a horrifying prospect, not often as a reality.

Brick means you might as well slap some mortar on it and put it in the wall, its is a paperweight... If its under warranty it can be sent to nokia. I have never seen a bricked internet tablet. There is always a way to recover, unless its a hardware problem.

Number one problem I have seen with n800, use the original USB cable when flashing, not just whatever cable is closest
