Hello,

I have Canola up and running. I'm a new user and my question is what directory on the N800 do I move my files into from my PC? These would be pictures and media files. Thanks.

The only way I have found to refresh the canola database is to use the Canola applet on the home screen and press the Rescan button.

Hopefully someone can show a better way to do this as it is a pain to rearrange the home page just to add the applet there to use it!

I think it auto-scans if you take out and put back the memory card.

Start the canola configuration app from the menu...
in there you can choose which folders to use.
it should be something in your memory card, like: /media/mmc1/music

moving the files from the pc to the tablet is as simple as connecting the tablet to the pc with the usb cable... and use the pc to move files...

that would be good. Maybe I was too impatient

I wonder why have such a big Rescan button then on the home page applet?!

I just checked: Canola does indeed refresh its database upon removal and reinsertion of a memory card. The button is probably to make users feel more in control.

The Rescan is for when we have transferred files from our PC's to the Nokia 770 or N800 using USB or other methods and need to update Canola's database of content changes. As Karel has indicated when we remove and re-insert or memory cards, Canola also usefully & automatically refreshes it's DB.

OK, thanks. I transferred mp3 files on there using USB. That must be why the db wasn't updated.

For some reason most of my songs I transferred from itunes don't show up in the ''artists'' and ''album'' categories, instead they show up in the ''all'' category. Is there anyway to make canola can read these files like the media player and separate them into the correct categories? Any suggestions are welcomed!
