+1 ysss!

I'm surprised there's not an open variant of that game (complete with networkable 4-play.... har har... hindsight) or is there???

I should really start searching *before* posting.. Anyway, apparently, there's a chu chu rocket for the Game Boy Advance! So we'll definately get our filthy mits on this gem..

do we realistically expect that the n900 has the grunt (from both the software and the hardware point of view) to run a DC emulator?

The Pandora is managing to cope without much optimisation (eventually looking at double the framerate.) So I would expect the N900 to just about cope.

it is an appealing prospect, games like soul calibre would be amazing to have running on the n900.

Nobody else noticed "The CPU is clocked at 800MHz here"?

Granted, once its optimised it will really help reduce the requirements but there are plenty of graphical bugs there. Also, who is going to port these things for us?

The N900 could probably run it, but it would likely not be smooth and sound would make it a slide show.

I have a DC emu on my HP 12" touch lap top and it plays everything with sound smoothly. DOA2, Ikaruga and SC rock!

Heck, get a PS1 emu that can play DOA, Crash Racing and Raiden Project and I would be happy . Seems the PS hardware would be more possible for goodness.

Since the Dreamcast is closer to a PS2, I would expect PS1 emulation should be possible.

can you get something like a bluetooth/usb hub, that we can plug our USB gamepads into which then uses the bluetooth to link with the n900?

Dreamcast would most likely not work on the N900 (due to low fps).

Pandora processor: OMAP3530 - 720 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 520 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP
N900 processor: OMAP3430 - 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP

However, psx should work on N900

Thing is, I think the Dreamcast is closer hardware wise to the N900 than it is the PS2.

That said, the Dreamcast was able to emulate a PS1 (granted it only worked with a couple of games as it needed a LOT of optimisation per game) so it was a pretty able machine.

If the graphics chip is similar enough (the N900 one is basically based on the Dreamcast one) then perhaps that will help, but then probably not as most games will talk directly to the GPU on Dreamcast but all must pass through the API on the N900 - unless you plan to boot a custom Dreamcast OS negating the use of the phone functionality or any multitasking.
