Hi there

While surfing the forums and watched some videos of the N900 I got the feeling, that all new applications using English as language.
It is not a real problem for me, but I guess magazines and reviews in not english speaking countries will blame the N900 and the Maemo 5 software for not supporting the native language when installing third party software.

So maybe we can start a little translation service for the programs created by the users using this forum here?

I don't know if it is necessary to look into the programcode to change the languages or if you can use a resourcebase where the languages are stored in, but maybe we'll find some people helping to develop multilanguage software for coming Maemo 5 software and for now, the N900 so that it will maybe hit the market like the iPhone does 2 years ago.

I can translate from English into German and would do it free of charge

Maybe some of you would also join this project and developers could make software everybody without language barricades could use?

Thanks in advance

Hi draco.bdn )

Conny already started preliminary work on getting together a group of translators, first of with his project ConBoy in mind.
The group of translators, including myself, could undoubtly be persuaded into taking on more gigs as projects pop up.
Check out the thread at http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=33382

Maemo is officially localized to several languages but of course there is plenty more that are unsupported. This is why any help pushing http://wiki.maemo.org/Objective:Community_localization is appreciated.
