I've only had a limited amount of time using the iPhone. Admittedly, I am very much on the resistive screen side of the debate (I use my N810 to take handwritten notes at conferences -- a capacitative screen would be useless). The phone is quite responsive. If you don't have unrealistic expectations (i.e., if you do not expect zero lag) then you won't be disappointed. The eye candy definitely helps the user experience though, IMO.

PS: Questions are very much in the spirit of the thread, but please no whining! There are enough threads full of whining posts. Please do not whine here. Thanks.

Until then there is no way to get a screen protector in NZ.
ok, sorry I came off a little rude on my first reply. Seriously, there is a long thread about concerns like yours, you should check it out:

you guys are amazing! I got my phone now for 3 years and got no single scratch! not on the camera's covers front or back and not on the screen, not even the surrounding of the screen which is still glas. ok its not a touch phone but friends got their phones scratched the day they buy it! you people have to take care of your devices. I dont even do and get no scratches (the metal front got some from opening up beers). how cheap can you be? its a resistive screen and a cover reduces its responsiveness!
