Please help. Love canola - but can't start canola config. Program asks for "username" and "password" Where do I set these? Thank you in advance.

mine is 'admin' and the password I selected when I installed Canola (or during the first run, I don't remember now)

Hey Tabster, thank you for the response. I wasn't prompted for a password when I installed canola. So I uninstalled, and reintalled. Now trying again with 'admin' as the User Name, and have tried multiple things for the password - still no luck. Also - have turned off/back on (rebooted) n800. No luck. I did look in https://garage.maemo.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=462; and found a thread for this fix:

If it doesn't return that, check if your database is corrupted. You may delete your current DB by:
* Disable Canola-Applet
* Exit Canola
* Go to Xterm and (as regular user) do:
killall canola-conf
rm /home/user/.canola/canola.db
CANOLA_DEBUG=1 canola-conf -v -v -v # Will launch canola-conf with Debug information

but how do I get into Xterm?

Thank you for your help.

You have to install it as it is not included by default.

It is located here:
http://downloads.maemo.org/product/osso-xterm-advanced

Clicking the green arrow should install the right catalog and install the app.

For some apps, I had to try a few times and save the install file and load it up through the application manager. I think that is a problem with malformed .install files as some have worked perfectly. I can't remember which category this one falls into. Hopefully it works for you.

Alrighty - first, thank you for helping me. I installed Xterm no problem. I typed in the above text. I pressed "enter" after each line - which accepted the 'killall' command, but not the next command line. It put out a bunch of lines after the third command line. But no help.

So I uninstalled canola again. I actually accessed the memory of the n800 via a USB cable, and erased a 'hidden' database file (couldn't access it with just the n800). And erased it as well. Rebooted. Installed Canola again. Rebooted. No luck. Still have no idea what the username or password is, and still can't access canola confiruration. What should I do now?

Holy Mother of Pearl! Well, the XML trick actually worked.
I did get access to canola config - but it was still a little squirrelly

Now I just need help adding an internet radio stream to canola. .. .

Thanks again to all
