You wont be able to buy it T-Mobile before 2010 mate. There still is pre-order option available on the web site. Once we have it in our stocks that will change to "Order now" or something like that .

"Thanks" part is what you get if you actually help people and clarify question marks on peoples head.

You will have to contact with Southampton. They are not answering the calls due to high call rates. But the status will change once it is out for delivery as the some others got "Pending PAC" status, so probably you will get yours next week too.

Steve.
I live on the Isle of Wight is SO tempting to get a boat over and get it when it is due and not wait for delivery, especially as im driving past middle of next week

Er, you may want to think twice about rubbing that in around here...especially if MPD take their time getting stock out to those who pre-ordered. To be honest, they haven't exactly covered themselves in glory these past few weeks. I know they keep off-loading the blame on Nokia (every webchat I have with them they say that Nokia are being 'difficult' and 'won't give a precise date') but ultimately that isn't any of our concern. We're not really going to suddenly start feeling sympathy for them because they can't get their business relationships sorted out satisfactorily. All we want is to get straight information about when our devices will be in stock and more importantly when they will be shipped. Playing the 'hey, let's all hate Nokia over this' card doesn't endear MPD to us, it simply makes them look incompetent and unprofessional...

BTW, thanks for the time and effort coming on here and posting info, you are probably the one person who is at least earning a few kudos points for MPD. It's a shame they've have cocked this up so monumentally. I know for certain after this I will NEVER use them again and will not recommend them to anyone, and I imagine a lot of other people feel the same.

Well, as far as I know we are not expecting anymore delays and they will ship first units soon. Its not bragging I am just a guy who is basically in you position, I have been waiting my phone too and this delays bothers me as much as it bothers other waiting customers. I just cant wait anymore. It is your call to use Nokia Retail Stores again. None of the delays is our fault. I cant comment about customer service. We been trying our best.

If you have ordered your phone already, there is a big chance of you getting it next week.

As I said, really appreciate the up to date info you are trying to give us. And we know you've been trying your best, but saying it's not your (that is MPD's) 'fault' is very poor business practice on their part. People do not separate you and Nokia, largely because MPD run Nokia retail and so the connection seems very strong. MPD need to sort out their channels of communication with Nokia and their channels of communication with their customers and stop employing this 'well, we're really doing our best, but it's over our heads, it's all Nokia's fault' line. Ultimately it makes no difference to me whether it's MPD or Nokia who screwed it up, I'm doing business with MPD so I hold them accountable when things go wrong.

Sorry, bit of a rant there, just annoyed that I haven't got my N900 yet.

So it seems my n900 is on its way north, probably on the UPS night trunk to the midlands.

Before I retired I was a trucker so sort of understand how these things work, probably end up at Tamworth for delivery tomorrow by van, I am guessing early afternoon it arrives.

I am enjoying very much the hype to the whole thing. Am I the first 60 year old person in the UK to get one of these things?

One suggestion for Nokia, that the n900 get a proper name so as to put it on an equal par with an Iphone, Android etc n900 sounds a little clinical, perhaps we could have a naming brainstorm

Bit about me.

I've been a Linux geek for over 8 years and computers have been my hobby for going on 30 years, my first proper mobile was a Samsung SGH-E900 ok as a phone, but virtually useless on the internet 'coz of the tiny screen, the other thing that peeved me about the Samsung, I could not get it to interface properly with my Mandriva Linux PC, the only way to get my PC to talk to my phone was to boot up the dreaded windoze urgh.

I detest closed source operating systems .

My special interest in terms of the n900, are traveling and getting internet access for blogging in different countries, I did make a trip to Germany last summer and was impressed with how vodafone handed me over to each countries network as I drove through, my other big interest for the n900 is chess.

Well wish me luck for tomorrow.

TAMWORTH, GB 26/11/2009 23:23 ARRIVAL SCAN

A few factoids:

Barking is about 110 miles from me.
Tamworth is about 160 miles from me.
Barking is about 140 miles from Tamworth.

Logistics suck.

(Silly but true off-topic edit: On the plus side, students in the UK can save a whole £1.85 off the 2.53Ghz 13" MacBook Pro. Happy Apple black Friday.)

I think what dread is saying - well partly...

MPD base their business on the link with nokia, and there's no doubting the "Nokia Retail" part confuses most people into thinking the link is probably closer then it is.... The exclusivity deal - well, that may be true with some parts - but it's not really exclusive?! - especially not as people in the UK are getting theirs through Nokia now.

Because Nokia have screwed up, people are looking to their "Exclusive" supplier to help... and well, the supplier is saying "not our fault Gov" not really what the customer wants. (True not much else can be done) - but at the same point - you don't say that to a customer

I don't see the same complaints happening with play.com or amazon - mainly due to not promising exclusivity and a close nokia connection. (And naming half the Business Nokia Retail!)

I do hope that MPD as a company, and definitely not you individually Steve (I'm sure you have enough work on your plate without dealing with us lot!), do listen or at least review what has happened with nokia... as yes there are plenty more fish in the sea "Customers" , and there always will be.... maybe.
Not great strategy to keep loosing them - as eventually it will all disappear....

while i have no issue with you here, and you provide a glimmer of hope, the beef people have is with MPD, and you as a customer waiting for your new toy understand that

I hope this whole debate clears up as "hoped" next week - Going by the only official email i have from MPD - the 3rd is delivery for the shop - so next week may not happen if there is a large pre-order - and i certainly wouldn't want everyone's hopes up ready for Friday - just in case, the previous experience in the last 2 weeks, happens again for another weekend

But then that's the only official news i have heard.... - good news they are in the UK.... even better news some of them work (Optimistic, not pessimistic, hehe)....

Anyway - no personal issues - just intrigued that people either love you as you could help, or hate you as you are seen as the enemy - and is providing me with fun reading throughout the day!
