go to x-term and run
cat /proc/component_version
My retail italian n900 return:
hw-build: 2101
On firmware i see
Valid for RX-51: 2101, 2102, 2103
Valid for RX-51: 2104, 2105, 2106, 2107, 2108, 2109, 2110, 2111, 2112, 2113, 2114, 2115, 2116, 2117, 2118, 2119
Valid for RX-51: 2201, 2202, 2203, 2204, 2205, 2206, 2207, 2208, 2209, 2210, 2211, 2212, 2213, 2214, 2215, 2216
Valid for RX-51: 2217, 2218, 2219, 2220, 2120
What are the other hw-build?
i think the 2101, 2102, 2103 are the Global (001), USA (002) and Middle East and North Africa (003) version.
now... the others are a prototipe hw-build.... or a next (secret) device?

When you say run. Do you mean the sh command?
With that I get
Product: not found
hw-build: not found
nolo: not found
boot-mode: not found
the file is proc/component_version. I canīt see this cat/ directory you talk about so I am assuming that you just mean / as in root.
cat /proc/component_version
