I see that many apps from extras repos are installed directly to the 256 mb rootfs partition.
is it possible to move those apps once installed with the mv command to put them in /opt?

thanks

I think that's definitely not a good idea because it will very likely break something. That modification should be done in the application package level.

I thought applications in extras (not extras-testing or extras-deval) should have been optified already.

Afaik docstogo isnt in the extras repo. Its in the nokia applications repo.

Submit bug reports requesting the developers for those apps to optify them.

Which applications? You mentioned docs2go already but it's not from extras repository.

DocsToGo is practically optified (it's just using 200 kB from /). What possibly you're viewing is the links to /opt in /usr.

Hi,

I made a little list of non-optified applications:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Opt_Problem/Non-Optified_packages

You can check the location of files from installed packages using:
dpkg -L <package>
or install the application Packageview (in extras-devel). Packageview also shows you the size which the application will use after it was installed.

If you find a non-optified application please fill a bug report. Most applications have their home in bugs.maemo.org.

Ciao jukey
