Don't forget that anyone may create a bug report so that any problems can get fixed. I have had my N900 developer model for more than a month without any problems what so ever (aside from issues with fennec, the firefox mobile browser.)

If you have problems, please speak up - they cannot get fixed if Nokia or Maemo does not know about it.

left a contact request to nokia @ weekend, no reply yet. I'll call them tomorrow but I fear that getting a new device is a no go for now when even some preorderers are still waiting.....

If more people could reply to this poll it would be beneficial.

For the people who are voting faulty/bricked, can they post a short description of their problem.

To the original poster, and all who'd prefer to complain, you all do realize that there is a general rule about failure rates with mobile devices... usually in the area of 3-10% depending on yields and number of manufacturing finishing points.

For a device like the N900, there are probably 2 maybe three factories finishing the device, and with global availability, and a projection of .5-1 million devices over its calculated lifetime (not saying that will be it, but there are general targets for initial device sales; for Nokia and this type of device, 1 million devices shipped and sold is pretty successful and heady given the target audience and price). So to get a defect rate of less than 5% would be great - especially of those defects can be traced to a specific factory of assembly or part's orgin of development.

Coming to a forum, where traditionally only those people with issues speak loudest and most often, and asking about failure rates is about as biased a statistical output as the results of a US Presidental election in Florida. In other words, the sample size here will be too small to gather anything of value except for statistical anonamolies.

I would hope that folks responding to this are insightful enough to understand this and not get peeved that Nokia isn't addressing their very desires for a *perfect* device.

Just from someone who may be on the wrong site and knows very little about programming. From what I have seen and experienced is the device is soild for the most part. I would agree that this appears to be more of a beta device promoted and released way to early. Issues with customer service did not help matters. Go from a N95 to a E71 to a N900 the craftman ship appears as good if not better than most cellphones on the market. As for as the software readiness that is within the system for a common user its a little confussing. For there superb advertising yet again a little premiture for proper syncing, ovi downloadable programs, as well as Maemo.

To the novice users reading this, don't do it. Ever.

If you are inexperienced with Linux then do not use Root access.. You'll end up brick the device if you accidentally modified or delete something that you're not supposed too. I advised to stay away If root is damaged then you're screw

I voted 'mine's faulty' since I have the random reboot issue. Having it exchanged today for a new one hopefully.
