same situation here now. pay 250 for a QWERTY without warranty or pay 249 for the QWERTZ (which is what I want) with full warranty... ?
wait for a 250-device endlessly or get the 249-device right away?

tough decision

I'm also tempted. I had some bonus points from a previous A1 broadband contract, but I guess they went up in smoke when i canceled it half a year ago in favor of BFREE broadband. Oh well, it seemed like a smart move back then

i feel for you

if i were an A1 customer, i would go for the €249 qwertz device instantly, but i don't want to switch carriers, and t-mobile.at doesn't seem to have any interest in the N900...

does anyone know how A1 brands the N900? I know it's SIM-locked, but are there any other restrictions? (e.g. can I update the firmware myself?)

Good question; I wouldn't mind the SIM-lock, but A1 does a lousy job providing new formware version for Nokia phones. Is there a mechanism in the N900 that could prevent me from updating to a new Maemo release (flash or SSU) if the carrier doesn't want me to? I had this situation with my current phone, needed to change product code etc. ... Does the N900 even have a thing such as a "prduct code"?

benny is eligible for the N900 developers/contributers program.

no. i called them yesterday evening and they said that while it's in the online store (thanks! that's why i called), none of their shops have them in stock. they expect the shops to have them next week.

i still went to the shop and asked about it. never trust the people at the A1 hotlines.... this time they were right, though, the guy in the shop confirmed.

i guess if i order online i won't be getting it any sooner than their own retail shops, will i? it still saves me €20 though...
