The version of the phone I have is for the italian market (european version I guess). Here operators will make the user pay when he wants to listen to the messages recorded on his voice mail. This is not phone related but depends on the operator. I have always disabled call forwarding to the voice mail (or used a third party answering machine software on symbian Nokia phones)

I do not have a voicemail, and I do not want one.

Likewise - I'm with Vodafone UK and they still charge money for accessing voicemail. The first thing I've done with every handset I've ever owned is to disable all of the call forwarding and diverts.

The call is that important? Then try calling me again later.

Oddly the call forwarding number is my country code and number with 001 inserted between them, but it goes to voicemail anyway. I assume because the voicemail cuts in before 20 seconds.

I have a payg Virgin/T Mobile sim which has free voicemail when in credit. Which I use for roaming too.

I cannot disable it as well, but the phonenumber is not the voicemail number for my provider and it is costing me money.

All the calls are forwarded to this number that does not exist.

And I am paying for these forwarding calls.

Mine points to my voicemail, and I can select wether or not to forward missed calls. I haven't tried to change it, since it is the correct voicemail number, but if you have issues maybe you can try the Call Forwarding Applet? Just my 2 cents ...
