Someone answered today:

lshal | grep batt

will give 22 pieces of battery information. Some do not have meaning during charging.

(without the grep, there are 1596 lines. I haven't looked at that.)

How many accounts plugins (haze etc.) do you have signed in?

I had the 5 mentioned above, my battery was draining quick, full charge only lasted 8 hours on medium use.

Since I disabled the accounts plugins except SIP when not needed, a full charge can last me a good 20+ hours now on medium usage.

I think the account plugins is the main cause.
None, I purposely didnt even set up Skype, SIP or IM and I even went so far as to not even set up email either. Still 6 hours and its done.

How long does your last now? How many hours can you surf on the web on 3G in a charge?

Especially since Nokia has all but said that paying full price for an unlocked phone does not entitle the owner^H^H^H^H^Huser to use the gps for maps or geotagging photographs without being connected to a data network.

However, many people report all day battery life with data connection always on. There have been reports that the facebook widget quickly sucks the battery empty.

Just curious, how much battery life you get from a full charge? What are your settings and your type of usage with the N900?

After seeing how much difference 3G signal quality makes to some other S60 phones battery life (1 day vs. 2.5 days), and how much turning from "packet data always" to "packet data on demand" made (about 50% longer), I wouldn't be surprised if the 3G signal quality and settings are making a big difference to N900 users.

Hand-wavingly, that might even have some vague connection with why some people report better battery life with a new SIM - if it results in different 3G behaviour.

Who ever is having battery issues must be one unlucky person. On my very first charge, after I killed the battery. My battery lasted over 7 hours on heavy usage. Minimum of 3 hours of wifi constantly active(yes, I was browsing the net with my phone instead of using my pc ), 4 hours with 3.5G data while streaming music for that 4 hours straight, and about 1 hour worth of browsing with 3.5G all together. I also had the calendar and OM weather widget on. Max setting for everything, except for volume because I don't want to kill my ear drums . Then it dies on me.

But I do notice one thing, streaming music on the net does not kill you battery as much compared to playing music from your device. My phone actually died on me after 6 hours of continuously playing music....... And I did not have any data connection on.

Damn, but how much of that are you surfing the internet on 3G? (looked at the link you posted but you don't mention surfing).
