I am not getting the power saving thing... what is its purpose?
Well... to save power=battery my friend. If you have strong wifi connection you don't need so much power to take care of it.

@ bbin
ahahha so it is not controlling just how long it's the time out of the wifi when the device is in stand by...

It can really reduce the latency or DNS is the problem?

Anyway It's not a big issue thx to multitasking... I have other things to do while loading :-)

Changing the default power saving setting improved my web page loading and transitions considerably... at the expense of battery life of course, but I'll take the hit.

What might be the problem? Is it linked to the "web" bug
I get delays too. Fortunately I have several devices (Archos 5, G1 and Droid) to compare on wifi. My delay is not one minute, but is about five to ten seconds. Instant on the other devices.

I also have can not get zoutube to play beyond an average of 25 seconds. The vids stop dead and do not resume. Not a problem with the other devices.

Must be something simple to fix- I hope. Kind of frustrating to have a device that handles Flash and web well, but does not connect or stay connected very well on wifi, 2G or Edge. I wonder what causes the lag for loading pages?

As far as streaming vids, I only tested for less than a minute each for my noob review, since I wanted to try a lot of content sites.

I just changed my power setting too, but considering I am already in the room with the router prior to changing it, not sure it makes a difference.

I'd give it a try, Rushmore. It worked for me too. The power settings have a fault that causes pages to pause or stop loading sometimes. I don't like to save power anyway. Gimme all my power at the pedal

Medium does help, but it seems a lot of people are having this problem. I have also been communicating with others and the weak 2G performance in low "one bar" areas. It is a relief to know I am not the only one.

I think Nokia adjusted the radios down on the N900 to offset for the 1320mah battery in such a feature demanding device. Flash alone, is a battery drainer. Just wish we could apply the same mW increase to the GPRS, but I appreciate attenuation and other factors make this a more complex issue than wifi.

Another question on the browser. Any advantages on setting the cache to 40MB instead of automatic?

It does allow videos to cache up and play smoother. Without it, they stutter at start.

Changing the cache to 40mb and activating videos in full screen mode (playing games that way too) are good ways to both improve performance and in case of video, the quality, since the videos are lower res when embedded. Catch is you have to use the stylus to activate full screen, since it is usually a teeny tiny icon in the bottom right corner of the video.
