I currently have an N95 8GB and wanted to see if it was possible to easily transfer all of my numbers across?

I know with all my symbian phones I could use the Phone Switch utility to very quickly and easily sync all of my contacts using bluetooth. Does anyone know if this would work with the N900?

Thanks

I'm assuming you can push your contacts into Ovi and then back down to the N900 when you get it. Or you could always dump them into GMail and then use the Exchange functionality to push them back to your device.

AFAIK, the same utility comes with the N900 as a built-in application.

That's good, as I refuse to push all my friends and family's contact details onto a third-party system where I have no control over what happens to it.

I thought SIM cards also store phone numbers?

It may be possible to transfer via SIM if the phone is smart enough. My sony ericsson uses all sorts of gimmicks for that, like putting /M /H /W suffixes to show it's the same contact, just different numbers. Which will probably not work well when transferred to the n900. But then again, this is nokia-to-nokia

They do, but with very low amounts of storage and an almost unusable format by modern phone standards.

So a month later is it correct to say there is no way to export text messages from Symbian phones to N900?

I was able to transfer about 3800 contacts from my E90 to the N900 via the transfer app.

It didn't work the first time when I initiated the transfer from the E90, but I think the 2nd time I initiated the transfer from the 900, and it worked beautifully.

Of course, you'll have to BT pair the phones.
