I was just wondering where the 16GB limitation comes from: sw or hw? Can the N900 read cards bigger than 16GB at all or can it only see the first 16GB of a bigger card?

Just like with all the Nokia devices in the past they say the limit is what ever the biggest card at the time is. At one time they claimed n810 couldn't read bigger then 4GB card.

The N900 supports the micro-SDHC standard, which means that it's supposed to flawlessly work with 32GB microSD cards.

However, those cards have only been announced by SanDisk, but they are not for sale yet. As far as I remember, SanDisk announced 32GB microSDHC cards in February, but those cards are not available at this time.

For now, 16GB is the most you'll get.

Thanks guys. This is great news (if future bigger cards will work plug-n-play).

Yes, unfortunately the 32GB microSDHC cards aren't available yet. Although there were about 20 or so pre-release units sold on eBay a few months ago, but they were defective in that only half of their space was addressable. SanDisk is mostly likely intentionally holding the 32GB release back just to milk the sales on the 16GB card.

The 32GB chips should work fine with the N810 and the N900. When I got the N810 'officially' only 8GB chips were supported (the then biggest size) but when 16GB ones were released they worked just fine without updates or anything.

Nevermind, it doesn't show if not logged in. Anyone having an issue of constantly forced to re-login? Just installed Win7/IE8 yesterday and it seems to be an issue ever since.

They probably can not get efficient wafer yields yet due to the even cramper design for 32gb. Production yield efficiency usually dictates a launch for memory increases of current technogies.
