I can't seem to find it, but do Nokia make a charger that will charge batteries without having to be inserted in the phone? I've got a spare battery and would like to charge it up.

I've found non-Nokia ones on eBay, but can't find an official Nokia one.

There isn't an official one.

Here is one made for the BL-5J battery. Same one N900 uses.

Edit, Sorry I missed the part about official Nokia.

The only real problem with a spare battery is how many times can you remove the back of the phone before you break all the tabs that hold it on...

I just bought one and it arrived the other day. I'm waiting for my replacement N900 and I'll report back on how the charger works (if I can remember).

I've ordered one of those chargers over the weekend as well, but when it comes to batteries and chargers I prefer getting official ones that work. It's always a risk with no name brands.. that or it just doesn't have as much life as official ones.

Anyway, I've also ordered a DC-11 to take with me on holiday this weekend. For some reason Nokia's website wouldn't accept my orders the past couple of days so I had to pay a little more to get it from eBay.

I have bought and used many unbranded batteries for my nokias without problem, some of them extended versions giving me longer standby....I'm yet to receive my 'precious' but when it arrives there will be 2 spare batteries and desk charger waiting. All for US$14 re... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_2974wt_805

Oh, and if you have a N810 lying around somewhere, you can use it to charge the N900 battery: Charging a BL-5J (N900) battery in the N810

You could consider this an "official", although expensive standalone charger Does make sense when you already have a N810, though.

Wow, this is great! I wish the back of the N900 was as friendly as that of the N800 or N810. But I'll try it.

I bought a cheap desktop charger along with the battery from eBay and it works great.
