Not to mention that the individuals are repeating their issues in multiple threads so it appears that more people are actually having issues. If you consolodate those people you're looking at a small amount of individuals/devices. A lot of people are new to linux here and excited about the phone. That can spell disaster for some people trying to "tweak" their phone.

Most of these things seem that they would be fixed with software upgrades, but you're right, a phone/computer should work out of the box.

For instance, you have 16 people that have reviewed it on Amazon and it's at a 4/5 star rating. I will let you know how mine goes. I should get it soon. It's hear waiting for me, i am just out of town right now. err!!

Right, let's take these one-by-one.

Haaahahaha. How many songs do you have on device? How many videos?

This is because Qik application tries to resume sending your video when your upstream is too slow to send live. You can quickly build a list of videos which qik tries to send, before streaming what you are looking at now. This is not not an eror with the N900. This is just poor communication by Qik application to the user.

This app is in EXTRAS-TESTING. It is not a N900 app shipped with device. Did you file a bugreport?

Oh 4000 titles. Should have mentioned that above, in your bug report.

Apple's mp4 files are a cause of many problems. Use teh Google, luke.

This is related to some known bugs in media player. Particularly it breaks with large media libraries, because it cant keep up with the user.

They start up in 5-15 seconds here. 100 clips on device.

I have seen this happen a couple of times. Depends on the video. On the ipod touch you can NOT PLAY THE VIDEOS YOU CAN PLAY ON N900. IF YOU ONLY ACCEPT DEVICE-OPTIMIZED VIDEOS, LIKE APPLE DOES, SURE THEY WORK FINE.

I have over 20gb of media files but I had the same on ipod touch and didn't ever have any issues. I know that is a dedicated media device but I am pretty sure the iphone is the same. And please the answer to my post is not go and get an iphone then. I bought the N900 because I wanted an N900. I am just listing some of the issues with it.
You managed to touch on ONE real bug here (media player indexing). The rest of your childish tantrum can go to /dev/null

Hmm I just noticed a grey / black pixel in the bottom right of my screen. Have tried massaging it but still here. Its usually covered by the bottom frame when browsing but if full screen in the browser with a white page open (eg google) I can definitely see it. Annoying but I'm hoping (unrealistically?) that it will go away or I'll stop caring!

Hi,

I've gotten my n900... but have elected to not open until christmas day for novelty and childish glee reasons

Is the instance of hardware faults that high ( mic not working, etc. ) ?

High enough that maybe I need to open now and briefly test the device in order to not end up waiting into the new year for a replacement unit ??

whats the general consensus from the "signal" people ?
( as opposed to the noise )

Thanks.

The reality is you have about a 4-6% chance of having a problem with your Nokia.

What is going to happen of course is all you guys are going to open up your Nokia's, fall in love with them, and then never visit these forums again so thus the cycle of impression that they're just loaded with problems is going to continue. Reality though is they are fine and people with problems visit tech forums.

4-6% eh... thats not an insignificant chance.

I'm fine with anything software related... just dont want to end up with a dead mic/screen on opening.

I do see your point about the volume of users here with problems will outweigh those here for the device in itself.
Hence i'm just trying to get a feeling if there is much real chance of me ending up with a dud.

I have had the device for 3 days now, completely blown away by it. The only issue I've had has been charging the battery when I ran it completely dead, and that resolved itself. I myself was starting to get a little apprehension from reading some of the posts on these forums, then I started to notice that many of the posts were by the same users across many threads. Also lets mention the trolls who have bashed this wonderful device every opportunity they have in every possible thread, they bring up shaky strawman points, and claim validity in the sake of objectivism. Honestly they're acne ridden virgins with an outcast, I know it all social deficit, caused by being the smartest person in the 11th grade in whatever B.F.E school they go to. It's like being the shiniest piece of crap in the pile of sh@t. I would mention them by name, but I try not to feed virgin troll gumps. Why they are not banned is beyond me. The device is a joy to have, and is really a game changer on the mobile computing front.

You are a real idiot. What is the reason for that childish language? Was there anything I said that should be overlooked in a device I paid $625 for? I was mentioning the problems I have with the device.

- It may not be a problem to you because you are a millionaire and $625 is nothing.

- It may not be a problem to you because media is not important to you but it is to me as I bought it to replace 32gb ipod touch and 30bg zen as well as other functions and most of all cause Microsoft decided those of us in Europe did not deserve a Zune.

- It may not be important to you cause you are a Nokia fanatic and dare not criticise any of their products.

I don't know. But for you to suggest things that are important to me I am complaining about in a $625 device means I am doing childish whining makes you a real idiot. I have never insulted anyone on the internet but you definitely deserve it.
