Ok so i runned orb all by itself, and it worked fine. Just the only thing that concerned me wat i was unable to seek the video file (can't fast forward), and the video played smoothly but the pic quality was somewat bad compared to my monitor (its a dvd quality print on the computer) where as on the n900 its kinda "pixelated" (if that's a word :P)

Hope this helps!

++Very Good with flash and veiwed in mobile browser mode.
++Very easy to install for beginners
++basic functional media centre for maemo
++easy streaming and file transfer
++no linux knowledge needed

--Bit poor quality video with bad sound
--very buggy but managable

hope this helps. I find it fills a lot of needs media streaming wise, till better software appears on n900.

Quick install on PC then browse from remote browser.Very easy!

I have successfully got good video quality running orb. While on the N900, look under the Orb settings, check the Winamp format (PLS). Now it will stream to the media player app on the 900. I do not know what format it is in though.

Orb web interface:
Con: Video is on par with what youtube had 3 years ago if streamed.
Pro: If you want higher quality there is a download option right next to the view option on all media.
Pro: Setup on a home computer is mind numbingly easy.
Con: I have between 3-512kbps upstream and streaming content is unpleasant. (and if I'm running a torrent, fugetabaddit)

Pro: Orb doubles as a LAN media server and I can confirm that it works flawlessly with xbox360 and PS3

And that's about all I can think of.
