Not sure if that helps, but have you checked out navit
http://wiki.maemo.org/Navigation_Tools#Navit
It is an open source navigation tool and use openstreetmaps.
Both the tool and the maps are open source, so it is only a time investment to try it out.

... and? You tried? Navit is working?
with garmin install and its really awesome but with difirence OS currently they did not support garmin any more I m looking for any GPS company out there to support this OS ( Maemo ) I heard that Sygic going to be in the games the end of this year but so far that it .. willing to pay one time fee to get that call ....Voice Navigator..!!
