I'm using my N800 to play back DAB recordings (taken from a Pure Evoke 3 radio which records DAB broadcasts as MP2 files direct to SD card) when on the move.

It's great that the N800 is able to do this out of the box but I've noticed that it plays some recordings with an annoying ringing distortion. All the recordings play fine on the Evoke 3, of course. The issue seems to be related to the bitrate of the broadcast; BBC Radio 4 at 128kbps seems problematic, for example.

Anyone else noticed similar problems or would care to suggest a solution that doesn't involve booting up my PC?

I'm second to this... I use to listen to DVB-card stream on N770 (mp2 low bitrate, usually joint stereo ) and end up to listen left channel only.
Any idea how to beat those awful distortions? mpg123 sounds much better on Linux box for those streams.
Any advise (apart of porting mpg123) would be greately appreciated.

(Listening SmoothFM (left channel only) right now... )

Nokia 770 users may probably want to vote for this bug (if you suffer from the same problem of course): https://maemo.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=714

I don't think voting for 770 bugs serves any purpose anymore (except for protesting :-)
