WorldTV99/N900 is on extras-testing, we tested it, and it is OK

Installations:
Install kmplayer, mplayer, worldtv99 from app manager (you do not have to install mplayer, you can use the default ossomp, you will watch less TV stations)
six blue squares on L upper corner>More..>App. manager>Application manager>Application catalogs>New

Catalog name: Extras testing
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free
Save

R upper corner>Download>Multimedia> select and install
- mplayer
- KMPlayer
- worldtv99

When done installing, pls disable extras-testing so you do not accidentally install or dl some unstable/experimental apps.

Anyhow, the default built-in player outperforms mplayer. I installed both, if there is problems, you can always uninstall them. As shown in later thread, the installation of this 3 items did not even make a dent on the %used rootfs (see below thread).

Now you are done, go enjoy!

Use
6 blue squares L upper corner>More...>scroll down to find KMPlayer>WorldTV99, find your station and enjoy. Station listings see below. A folder open up sub stations. A star means excellent quality and streaming. The majority stations are played by the built-in osso media player. If it dose not work, likely it will be play by the other player, mplayer, lastly flash. Go to top border open up KMPlayer submenu to select different player. mplayer already optimized to take full screen, while the others are still work-in-progress

Down to earth simple user instructions
- pick the country folder, open to click the TV stations
- click the screen to toggle between window and full screen
- in full screen click upper right corner to open up BlueBarTVMenu
R triangle switch back
L triangle switch forward
star add to favorite, remember your channel
quite a lot other small tricks in old links, in a nutshell, that is it.
.

User instructions and station listings

After testing, please, please, please vote for the program so that it can be push to extras - a small but sweet reward for the WorldTV99 team. THANK YOU!
Would someone take the trouble to vote to get WorldTV99 out of testing, please?

How old is the TV streaming?
Just an idea, on CNN breaking news it is LIVE
on CNN AndersonCopper360, 3 - 4 hrs,
on CBS, you can see the 6 pm news at 11 pm, same day.

Known bugs
1) navigation is being over-haul, suggestions?

When compare to N8x0, this make you go get a N900 :-)

What is WorldTV99?
- WorldTV99
How much it cost?
- constantly/diligently working with the WorldTV99 teams, o/w it is FREE
How can you get it?
- Look around
How can you help?
- constantly/diligently working with the WorldTV99 teams

Edit: do not see "too many" dead links, mostly it uses the "other" player, so if ossomp does not play, try mplayer, or lastly flashplayer, if all 3 fail, then it is a dead link. For both dead and new links, please post it here, we will take care of it.
built-in player plays better and use less battery. However, mplayer removed borders and looked more grand, take your pick.

Enjoy,

KMPlayer + WorldTV99 yes it is optified except for a couple of small text files
mplayer - has to ask the author himself

I just installed this, and whatever it means, Settings>Memory>memory for installable applications 1.90 GB available. I think it means alright? Hey, some guru please jump in and help me out .... (I think it comes with 2.0 GB space, right?)

Run this script as python scriptname.py packagename and it will tell you how much is in /opt and others.

Same here--as much as I would like to add Maemo Testing, I don't want to go through the problems like devel has.

Even the MPlayer in Extras Testing is not optified (and takes about 18MB).

Thanks for the info, Bundyo. I just df my tablet, here is the output:

Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
rootfs 233344 170364 58700 74% /
ubi0:rootfs 233344 170364 58700 74% /
tmpfs 1024 88 936 9% /tmp
tmpfs 256 64 192 25% /var/run
none 10240 80 10160 1% /dev
tmpfs 65536 4 65532 0% /dev/shm
/dev/mmcblk0p2 2064208 29616 1929736 2% /home
/dev/mmcblk0p1 28312128 573760 27738368 2% /home/user/MyDocs
/dev/mmcblk1p1 7966720 92064 7874656 1% /media/mmc1

My rootfs is 74%Used, just like when I received on day1. 18/233 ~ 7.4%, apparantly NOT all 18 M is in the rootfs, as that should change the used % 74 to 82. Remains at 74% suggested NOT 18 MB goes to rootfs. Is my 1+1=2 logical?

Where is my mmc boot... guru Fanoush?

Edit: are apps in extra-testings are supposed optified? I am confused

I do recommend installing 'Decoders Support' (and skip mplayer for once its optified). From the apt database:

Package: decoders-support
Priority: optional
Section: user/multimedia
Installed-Size: 44
..
Version: 0.1
Replaces: ac3-support
Depends: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, gstreamer0.10-flv, gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-extra, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, tracker-distutils
Filename: pool/fremantle/free/d/decoders-support/decoders-support_0.1_armel.deb
Size: 6158
..
Description: Support for additional video and audio decoders
.
Depends on GStreamer decoders and tracker mimetype registering tool
* MKV container support (this doesn't mean that all MKV files will work)
* FLV video support
* MPEG2 Transport Stream support
* AC-3 audio in video files support
* More codecs might come later
Maemo-Display-Name: Decoders Support

I installed the Decoder Support, my /rootfs used after the installation, instead of increasing, decreased from 58700 to 58528, remairs 74% used. Witchcraft
