I have Real VNC installed and properly working on the computer but when I try to connect thru VNC Viewer on my N900, I just get "connection failed". I have no clue what is causing this. Again everything on my server is ok becuase I can connect with another PC.

Check if the server is configured correctly... make sure it's not blocked by a firewall.. and also if you're behind a router (this is if your trying to connect from outside the network) make sure the ports for the server is forwarded properly...

Hope this helps.

Also it helps when having a static IP address for the computer..

I use my N900 to connect to UltraVNC on a Win7 box. Works well.
Can you ping the server from your N900?

I'm using RealVNC as my server that's why it's not working. When I use Ultra VNC or Tight VNC it works fine.

I have the same thing going on.. I can connect only to my desktop computer with the n900 and the version of the server is 4.3.10. but on my laptop I have version 4.4.3 and I cannot connect to the laptop. i am sure whatever the difference is between these two versions that is why I am not able to connect.

if anyone has any idea please help

If you're using one of the commercial RealVNC versions (Enterprise/Personal) then you'll need to make sure that encryption is set to optional/disabled on the server.

I use enterprise Real VNC. I can't connect with any of the ways mentioned. I have tried with static and non static ip, dyndns, through local network but nothing! With windows version of real vnc viewer I am able to connect from anywhere. Any more ideas?

Sorry, the encryption issue is the only one I'm aware of (and I don't have the enterprise version to check with). It may be worth checking you can connect okay using a non-realvnc viewer on Windows (e.g. TightVNC).

Was having some issues with this last night. Read in a different post here that you need either have encryption set to prefer on or prefer off. Always on for whatever reasons trips it up. Once I did that connection worked locally.

Getting it to connect over a data connection on t-mobile germany does not seem to work. Anyone in germany able to do this? (Shot in the dark I think but I thought i would try)
