That command as you put it ( /proc/bootreason ) would be trying to *run* the file /proc/bootreason.

That's not what you want to do at all!

You want to see what's in the file, probably.

For that, do:

cat /proc/bootreason

Careful out there..

If you have isntalled rootsh, you can simply type "root" and if you get a prompt saying:
Nokia-N900-42-11:~#
you are root.

Youcan then type the command: "echo 0 etc."
It shall give you no other feedback than making a new line.

I have to add that you have todothis in the same shell, you cannot exit, or you will no longer be root.

I have to disagree on this one (and similar warnings). There is no reason for being careful unless you are working with a server or somethng. The N900 is no server.

The worst thing that can happen is a bricked device that have to be reflashed. If you have a N900 without reflashing it, you are one out of two:
1. An expert that knows exactly what to do at all times.
2. WAY too careful.

Just my opinion

OK, we cross-posted here I allmost change my opinion in my last post right now, but OK

The command is a one liner.

The > sign you get by pressing theblue arrow, then sym (upper left corner). Then a screen keyboard opens (at leaston my device)
