I just tried to install Bounce with the applications manager. The 15MB d/l very quickly over wifi then there was an "Operation failed." message.

I found this thread, read it, then tried again. No response to a click on it or any other game. I backed out and all the catalogs are gone. I only had enabled extras in addition to default.

My n900 arrived on Monday. I configured wifi and have not yet put a SIM in it. I have only installed ssh, rootsh, and ecoach.

When I re-enter the Application Manager, it says "No Catalogs in use.", even though its menus seem to have all the apllications listed.

The Catalogs menu is completely empty. There are no check boxes to enable or standard repositories. There is just a "New" button where I have to know all the URL's etc in advance.

How do I get the Standard and Extras repositories back?

A little update from me:
I tried chaning dns adress, it didn't worked.
I did some more research, and:
when going to https://downloads.maemo.nokia.comfremantle/apps with a n900 browser I'm getting "secure connection failed" error"(downloads.maemo.nokia.com uses invalid security cerfificate. The certificate is only valid for a248.e.akamai.net. Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)
If I add an exception it gives me acces denied error.
Any ideas?

Had the same problem where cellular works yet wifi doesn't.

WIfi works with browsing websites but no go for repositories. I got this same problem with the scratchbox alternative.

Strange and annoying.


Edit: Finally fixed it with my proper DNS settings gained from my Modem (not my router).

I got my N900 just yesterday and bumped straight into the same problem:
1) With Extras turned off the N900 doesn't find any apps
2) If I go to maemo-select and try downloading bounce, I get the "Unable to download 'bounce'. Application package not found" error.
3) Changing the DNS in the connection manager had no effect
4) Changing the /etc/resolv.conf had no effect!
5) Adding a new repo with following entries gave me at least the app listing:
name = Nokia Applications
uri = https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com
dist = fremantle/apps/
components =
, but if I click now on bounce I just get a download error.... (Downloading failed)

I tried both Wifi and 3G connections, I get the same result. Installing from the extras repos is ok, btw...

Any ideas?
