I am developing a TODO app for my mobile development class(using maemo), actually what the professor wants is an LBS(location based) reminder for the TODOs, some features we thought would be useful:

1 - Time/Date reminder;
2 - Quick add;
3 - Categories;
4 - Views by place or dates;
5 - LBS reminder;
6 - Search.

An use case would be:

If you need milk and you are passing by a supermarket it reminds you to buy the milk


Any other ideas?

We will use as a base the Mtodo and try to add the features listed above. We want as well to save personal locations in a map, does someone has any experience handling maps in maemo? We thought we could use google maps with python(but have no clue how to do so) and get the GPS information to use the LBS.

Also take a look at the old Palm To Do app. One of the features I miss is the ability to set an audible alarm to go off at a certain time for a certain number of days prior to the due date of a to do. An audible alarm will also be key to your location based to dos.

I need a waking up alarm without the anoying vibration.

I would like to have best sides of TODOs of Psion 3, 3a, 3c, 3mx, 5mx and Nokia 9500, PalmOS, Projekt (Symbian 60) and added with some good point's from project management programs.

- categories is very important and if you could do them with two options simple add (quick add) and more detailed add. Shopping list doesn't need so many things to be added but some other would need

- GOOD SEARCH is always critical

- views by place or date would be very nice

Sometimes when you are at work or at home and you know that you will have many to do categories taken into action it would be nice to put them into some kind of "critical" order. If todo application could ask you "Which is most important task or category from these three?" and would do that as long as it would know which is the most important. First you should of course select those categories, then do the order. This should not affect to any todo's in the categories and how they are ordered in there.

There should also be some kind of "how many hours to deadline".

If you could put some kind of estimates how much each categorie or task is taking time it could help your time management. You could also see how many reserved hour you have and would it take a week or one hour to finnish them.

Shopping list and todo manager could be different application - why?

Well, good shopping list should include:
- gps - should be related to location and time
- should include what should you buy but also where have you bought them before and what price
- shopping list should also have infrmation how many days you can survice with out this product and it should "calculate" how many days you can be without shopping - this saves quite much of everyone time
- shopping list should also have have connection to your wifes or other family members shopping lists so that you could organize them together

All of us actually buys quite a few things (not more than 100) and every product has some kind of time frame. By knowing these time frames or at least knowing them from ten most popular products you can actually make life much easier and save really much time when program could actually optimize these time frames with each other.

I would be very helpful if it would sync and compatible with Outlook

I am using glade to develop the interface, the colours are weird in the emulator and I don't know why so if someone's got a clue, please let me know.
