Anybody tried an interlaced clip with MPlayer? Mine just go crazy and the screen keeps flashing. Can't even terminate sometimes, had to remove battery.

The new download in "multimedia" gives more support to audio-video codec. Now, all my videos (tested so far) works (when it wasn't previously)!
New download?

downloading codec pack has made my videos work now. Before, I was only able to play them via Mplayer but now they work great in default media player as well.

MPlayer doesn't seem to be accepting keyboard input. Whenever I launch it, keyboard input goes to whatever window I had open last. If I switch away and switch back, keyboard input goes to the desktop (pressing keys opens contacts).

Has anyone else seen this?

Is there a new one besides the .1 version? I tried that option first, but the same results I posted in the OP. I saw no improvement at all.

Yup, that's the version. I'm not sure if my videos were already compliant or what but before installing the codec pack, media player always gave a codec error but now it works great.

jspenguin: keyboard focus is a big problem in the current version of Maemo. You have to really make sure your application follows the rules closely. Obviously, mplayer doesn't do this. Sigh... Yet another thing to get fixed.

I have managed to fix the focus problem with a quick patch. I have attached the patch file, and the binary package is available at http://s3.jspenguin.org/mplayer_1.0svn3.1_armel.deb.

jspenguin: any chance you could also add in the NEON optimisations by shadowjk from this post?

No problem... the patches are for different files so they shouldn't interfere. I should have it in a couple of hours. Ideally, this fix should be merged into the upstream.
