nice i ordered it today so i hope it arrives tomorrow.

So my BT3030 arrived erverything fine so far, BUT has anyone succeded in using both the N900s FM transmitter and the bt3030 as a remote? The sound always comes through the headphones. Is there a way to switch the output device in mediaplayer?

That seems to be a theme with the N900, not enough customisation unless you are a Linux expert and can risk buggering up the OS configuration.

I also noticed a bug which is presumably related to the same thing, profiles making assumptions based on what is plugged in.

If I connect my Bluetooth headset then plug in wired headphones, the sound redirects to the headphones but the headset button still works to answer calls. This is exactly what I want it to do as I want to be able to use the BT3030 as a remote (I don't have on yet so using a cheap mono headset to test) while using headphones direct plugged into the N900 for better sound quality.

Now comes the minor flaw, the microphone does not work so I still have to unplug the headphones or take the N900 out of my pocket to answer a call. Oddly the "stereo headset with mic" icon is shown on the N900 (stereo headphones + mono bluetooth headset = stereo headset) on the N900 is still shown but its using the N900s mic not the headsets.

You would think it would use the headset mic even if it has redirected the audio to the wired headphones. After all, capture and playback devices are totally independent of each other but it seems in this case, the profiles are locked. The N900 obviously goes "look stereo headphone, use N900 mic" instead of "look stereo headphones, redirect audio but use the same mic as previously set".

Presumably it never occurred to Nokia that someone might use a Bluetooth headset and wired headphones concurrently, because of course compressed Bluetooth Stereo audio should be sufficient for everyone.

I wonder if there is a way to hack the profiles to not override the mic when you plug in headphones?

i was guessing that the speaker related ones probably can be adapted to control what output gets used, but i cant give it a detailed look just now.
