when i read your post : Abemelek and see on other post, i'm very unhappy from this N900. because normally a phone could be use without a power supply plug all the time ? and with all this capacity if you ran most of them it seems that the N900 take one day or 1/2 day ?

i don't think that a new firmware can help this poor autonomy because when u use it in minimum it run 7 hours. but i'm not a dev and not have this machine.

other thing , bug that someone have about calendar, phone call or other thing ; it's not good for the market

actually i think this n900 is not too good for professional use , it's a real multimedia system and not a real phone as i see.

it's just my opinion, but i'm very too on this workstation

interesting..i used to have an equally bad battery issue, but my mistake was that i had installed the yahoo plugin, that even when i had switched of data connections is what used to consume a lot of battery...try flashing emmc and then posting results

I show edge connection (2.5g) plus wifi connection at the same time. Is that normal? Will that drain battery fast? I don't know as I have it plugged into the charger the whole time when i am at home. If i disconnect from the wifi it just reconnects after a while.

my battery seems ok. non-stop music listening ( for testing reasons) for... hmm..7 hours? about 7 hours. Volume is about 50-75% of maximum, a little gprs usage, downloaded few apps, a little skype chat, even tho my pc is right next to me, just for fun, a little of video watching, browsing the phone, making playlists, some wi-fi password guessing tries(about 20 tries).. . Connected through 3G network ( if it changes anything). Battery isnt even at half empty. Hard to tell. more than half, less than 3/4.

Go to Settings->Internet Connections and you'll see three options.
Connect Automatically:
Search Interval
Switch to Wi-Fi when available

Set Connect Automatically to "Always Ask" if you want complete control over what gets connected and when. Set it to any of the other options to have your phone automatically establish a connection and keep it open. It sounds like you have yours set to Connect Automatically to Wi-Fi.

What really drains the battery imho is the Search Interval setting. I set my phone to connect automatically to WiFi but set the Search Interval to never. Searching every 10, 20, or 30 minutes REALLY kills the battery, especially when you let it do it overnight (there is no blackout option).

There is a general consensus that the device needs lots of more work but has a great potential. Wait for a firmware update, which hopefully is a milestone and the OVI store. Till then, I agree, the device is not very handy for professional use.

Someone posted a pic of a sign saying statement that firmware will be updated "Christmas" from a Nokia event, who was that which thread?
Might be a dumb question but when i try to log on to this site using vkeyboard i put in my username and press enter because i don't see a tab key so then it tries to log me on without password, do i minimize and tap next field to get to password?
How do i accept the autocompleted word without right arrow key on the vkeyboard, did i just miss it?
Would be nice to have tab key. I'm not getting anything for Christmas or my birthday (12/16) so I would really appreciate a firmware update today or tomorrow.
I'm just saying.

When is the next firmware update for Nokia n900? I have read few posts which mention complete bluetooth headset failure. Bluetooth headset is a must for me.

just a guess but i think new firmware will be sometime at the end of January if all is well, the other day they selected some testers from maemo.org community to test it, so depending on what kind of bugs are found or not found will have a impact on release time.

There's currently a new firmware being tested (see http://www.gossamer-threads.com/list...ommunity/56354) but won't be out until January.
