All of a sudden I have lost the ability to connect to the internet. I can connect to my wifi router, and I can also establish a 3G/3.5G connection, but I cannot ping any address nor open any webpages.

Somehow it seems related to my easy debian install, cause if I try "debbi ping google.com" everything works (as opposed to "ping google.com" which gives me an error message).

I have tried rebooting several times, changing the connection, and unmountung the debian system, but without result. I can only connect to the internet through easy debian.

I really hope someone has an idea about a possible reason behind this annoying behaviour.

I can just add that I am able to make skype calls, so perhaps some port is blocked?

I would really, really appreciate any help from you guys out there

have you checked route-output ?

open shell,
sudo gainroot
route
or
route -n

though it confuses me, that skype is working... :/

compare with the outputs inside your easy-debian.
i can give you mine as well.

same problem here. It will not connect to the internet anymore. And now even my Skype will not connect. Seems that all outgoing ports are blocked.
How can I reestablish my connections??

After a few resets of my N900, it seems to work again???

Sort of, It works for a short period of time after a reboot, but after a while (minutes) it can't connect anymore??

It seems that especially WLAN have problems, but UMTS-GPRS seems to work.

Hey all,

I was going to make a new post about this similar problem, but I guess I could just add to this thread.

I have a similar issue as described by filologen - after some random time, I couldn't open webpages or update widgets (i.e weather status). However, I was able to establish connection to wifi or 3G. When trying to load websites, web browser shows address not found, and pinging wouldn't work either.

The only fix is rebooting the phone. I wonder if anyone else has similar problem?

I can't use the internet browsers that came with easy debian.

For instance when i try opening google.com it just times out.

The browser in easy debian said that the file at google.com can't be opened.

The network connection is active and it does work when i use the maemo browser or fennec.

Help please?
