Hi everyone,

My N900 is in transit from Amazon as we speak. But I already started thinking about who will be my mobile provider. I was hoping the newly launched Wind Mobile would have SIM cards available, but it was not meant to be.

Is FIDO my only option, given my basic needs for voice? I am planning to use Wi-Fi for free internet access.

Thank you in advance for your advice!

I think your only choices for voice are Fido and Rogers. I'm on Fido. The N900 seems to have fewer dropped/missed calls than my previous Fido phone (Sony-Ericsson Z710i).

I had the same problem and finally gave up on Foreca--it's clearly a bug. I'm using OMWeather instead.

i am also using fido here in calgary. so far call quality and signal strength are excellent. havn't used data services from my carrier. just wifi. WIND mobile is also available in calgary. but you have to buy the set from them. they have not offered sim only service yet.

Wind Mobile has dedicated SIM cards available in Calgary now. They are free but you have to purchase one of their 'plans'. Got one today, will test on Monday, as my home location is not in the coverage zone yet.

Something to try if you have an n900 (more relevant if you are in Vancouver or Calgary)

MY STEPS: after launching Maps
1. click Routing
2. Assuming that you are not in Vancouver, Add a target (set from map)
4. type Vancouver City Hall
5. Route Calculation > Cancel
6. Add another destination (to)
7. type Harry Jerome Recreation Centre
8. Route Calculation > Cancel
9. Remove "Your GPS position" from the list 'Set your waypoints", assuming
you are not in Vancouver
10. Let Route Calculation finish

if you fly over the water please vote for this bug.

Sorry, timwatt, reproducing your steps exactly, I can't get my maps app to suggest the flight path. I am always routed over the Lions Gate Bridge...
