In the N900 browser I like the ability to long press a link and then choose 'open in new window'. However - on my device at least - this right click functions doesn't work consistently. Sometimes I get four menu choices come up when I long press: open link in new window, add bookmark, copy link address, save link as. When I have these four options, choosing 'open in new window' does open the link in a new window.

However, sometimes when I long press I only get three options: 'open in new window' 'add address' and 'save page as'. When I click 'open in new window', a new window opens but it just copies the page the link is on but doesn't open the link.

Can anyone explain why it does this? Am I doing something wrong, is it a bug or is there a setting I need to change? Does this happen with your device? It is a bit annoying as it only works about 50% of the time.

The difference is that when you get only 3 options you aren't actually pressing on the link. This happens when you press anywhere else on the page.

Hitting small links and holding can be hard sometimes.

Ah, that would explain it. Thanks a lot - was a bit stupid for not working that out!

Sometimes if the page hasn't loaded fully some functions are disabled.

this has happened to me often as well. whats most annoying though is when the link gets highlighted in grey (so i know i'm clicking the right spot) but i still only get the 3 options instead of the four. I'm constantly being forced to zoom way in just to open links in new tabs. Very frustrating...

That sounds like a good bug to report "Link trigger area smaller than displayed text" or something, if you can consistently repeat the problem. It sounds vaguely familiar to me, but it hasn't stood out in my usage as a problem (yet).

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?
