If i worked at Nokia at PR, i would chat with you guys the whole damn day...And don't try to excuse Nokia by mentioning NDA...i've signed several in my life to know what you can mention and what you can't... jeez
Well then. Imagine if Quim comes by and says "Sorry guys, I just got word from inside Nokia, the release will slip by two weeks".

This will never happen, because there is no initial release date to speak of in the first place.

I was in Amsterdam, I saw the "Portrait browsing for Xmas 2009" slide during the presentation, I heard Ari Jaaksi (vice president of Maemo Devices) talk about it with my own ears.

I have heard no promises or release dates though. It was just an early indication of what is on the road ahead of us.

I haven't spend any money but if i had put 550€ to this device i would be very very loud. I think that people who have spent that much money are totally entitled to make their claims without being called little school girls. Its huge amount of money to quite many people :| And its really really understandable that after spending that much of money it´s quite natural to behave not so politely if you are not satisfied.

I do not encourage to behave badly nor i like it, but all I´m saying that ignore bad attitude text and concentrate on problem or try to give help or just ignore.

This is a side effect of attempting more transparency, which I think you are not appreciating, it's not working out very well. Look at what Apple is doing, not only do they develop their products in total secret (and I mean total secret, I saw N900 prototypes way before it was released to the public), the software upgrades are also developed in secret (community tests of firmware upgrades for the iPhone? Are you kidding me?), so are the release dates. No-one from the company officially says anything, so there is nothing to moan about by the ******s in the community, on the contrary, every release is mass hysteria, also conducted mostly by ******s, by the way.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have some idea about possible future releases than experience what Apple is doing. So be happy with what you have. That "promises" garbage needs to go.
You are the first irrational, not self interested consumer on record. Are you out of your mind? Do you realize what you just said? Because of people like you this crap will continue. Shame on you.

The way I see it is if Nokia stated there will be a firmware update available by the end of the year to download than I will hold them to it. Thats how it works, you give someone your word you come through, it's not about whining or trolling, its quite simple imo, if a large and well respected company releases a statement like that I will hold them to it, period.

If Nokia wants to go Apples route of secrecy thats fine also, but my point is if you say something follow through with it or you just keep quiet.

Now do I expect it to come end of year? No I actually don't cause this is the real world. My phone works pretty well as is but there are alot of bugs and so much room for improvement that I can totally respect why alot of us are so impatient and want a fw update asap!

as a former iphone developer 8 can say that the firmware is not developed in secret.

Every developer can download beta versions of the next release.
The don't tell you the exact date of release but at least you are in the loop.

Commenting on speculation is a no-win. Starting to deny certain speculations would only lead to the cycle where everything can be speculated aloud, and those things that are not denied can be then deciphered to be true.
