Depends if I'm out, or at house!
At house I use Sony V700
When I'm out, I use Shure e4c

wow, you guys are really audiophiles.
but my question is whether the earphones with mic will work or not?

cause most of the new ones have Made for Ipod/Iphone tag on them, and when i tried 2 of them, i could hear a buzzing sound.

Could anyone else confirm whether inserting the earphone while pressing the mike button works????

Using Klipsch image S4(i) with mic, and love them.
As a previous poster said, normal (as in thin) wires but i have had mine for a while without problem.
even got the normal S4.

Planning to buy the klipsch image X5 (no mic) but incredible sound.

Little low treble but thats from the total lack of EQ in the phone.
Never experienced the background noise some posters mentioned on my phone.
but the sound is lightyears away from when you plug in a portable amp but thats probably overkill for most users

budget for around 100 usd and above and you probably wont be unhappy.

Have a look at www.head-fi.org
You will find more info in that place then anywhere else.

Good luck and happy new year!

Also the ER-6i's are wonderfully balanced and give very accurate reproduction, which I miss a lot.

I'm currently using old UE Studio 2's for the sole reason that they have replaceable wires. I've gone through shures, etymotics and other in-ear headphones and all needed to be replaced because of damaged wires.

If you're going to be using your headphones with your phone, and you're going to be using them a lot, then you might consider durability as a primary criteria for choosing. Unfortunately most reviews don't include that in their reviews of upper end headphone reviews.

that's the exact reason I bought my UE, the replaceable cables. I managed to kill my standard cable (one of the wires came loose from the Y-connector) and now have this custom made one, which is really nice.

Going to head-fi reminds me how much I want some AKG 701's, but I don't want to pay the £250 price tag for them over here

I've got a pair of HBS-250 a2dp headphones by LG. I got them for $20 during a woot.com wootoff and they work pretty good. They have a built in equalizer with 5 presets. I personally like the superbass function on the headphones as it can really pump some for their size. While music sounds great, My only gripe is that you can hear a very small hiss (for example, when listening to classical music, etc.) but it soon becomes forgettable. The headset has its own volume controls (they do not control the N900's volume) so I suppose that's welcomed. The headphones have built in controls so you can pause, forward, reverse, etc.

Also handy feature is that you can switch between headset and headphones seamlessly so when you get a call it switches to headset (still stereo) then switches back when you're done. I suppose this is true for all a2dp headsets though.
