It's not open source.

Urban Terror might be possible (closest open source game to CS)

I think it is not. You cannot use apps like Wine, 'cause they dont work properly for ARMEL, and even if you could, I dont think N900 is capable to run CS 1.6 playable.

Maybe using a remote administration tool can be possible, but its not a way to "run it on N900", its running it on PC, and viewing it on N900.

Cs as it is could run on a 300mhz with a 3Dfx or so GFx,
So for the hardware part its ok till noone want to use CS source.

Bad part is CS is based on Half life :
requirement
Processeur Pentium 133 Mhz / Pentium 166 Mhz[1]
Mémoire vive 24 Mo de RAM / 32 Mo de RAM[1]
Carte graphique Carte SVGA / Carte accélératrice 3D (OpenGL ou Direct3D)

ALL good ... but half life is a trademark of Valve and trust me they wont open source it anyday

WARNING : This may be the most rediculous thing said on this forum today

i take it Steam would be out of the question?

CS runs on Ubuntu using Steam.

You weren't lying that was ridiculous.

Any game you play with an x86 processor will not play on the N900's ARM processor. There are a couple exceptions but none of them are popular games like CS, WoW, or anything on steam.

Steam works in ubuntu because of WINE. WINE does not work on N900. Also, if Steam is ever ported to Maemo, you will still not be able to play any games on it. Steam is only a fancy application launcher.

CS works in Ubuntu under Wine, but Wine does not emulate CPU - only translates windows api calls to a linux ones, which is fast compared to CPU emu. You can probably launch CS on some emulator, but it won't be playable.

Besides how are you going to actually play it? Plug a mouse and keyboard to your phone?

There should be logic/arcade/turn based strategy games on a mobile, quests even... not fps,rts or anything fast paced

Oh, i dunno. A basic FPS is fine on a mobile device. I was having a lot of fun with Doom last night. It doesn't really use a mouse, so that simplifies things and makes it very playable.
