Hi all.

Having solved my problem with DVD ripping, I now need somewhere to store my extensive library of 1960s and 70s childrens TV. So I need something more than the little 2gb card I popped in to the n900 just to run back-ups onto.

The spec says 'micro-sd'. Does that include micro-sdhc? What about ultra high speed cards?

Basically, what do people recommend? And if anyone in the UK would like to look at Amazon and make a suggestion... I have money ready to burn on Storing Bagpuss.

(Right now I'm debating thisor if I'm feeling really extravagant this.. will those work?)

I'd go for a combo MicroSDHC with an SD and if possible Mini SD adapter

Simply my preference as I have other devices that can also use various sized SD cards

The SD adapter can be bought seperately but this tends to make life simpler if you want to pop it into a flat panel TV or use directly in a PC too.

Everything you would ever want to know in Wikipedia MicroSD article.

The sdhc term is explained here but basically if it's over 2GB it is going to be SDHC.

Memory seems to be the one thing that doesn't reduce in price for bulk purchase: the 16gb is more than twice the price of the 8gb. Which is... odd.

I shall go for the sandisk 8gb sdhc, I think... and maybe look to a 16gb for later in the year.

This is usually to do with 'yield' - the more you try to cram into a piece of silicon the more significant any impurities become. This means that you can run a batch and higher failure rates - these typically become the lower capacity cards. Of course there is the issue of squeezing the market for as much as they can get before releasing a newer capacity.
