You have to be root using:
Code:
sudo gainroot

cd (change directory) is a command... The rest is the path...

So You need a space between cd and the path...

First:
Code:
sudo gainroot
then:
Code:
cd /home/user/MyDocs/.documents
and then:
Code:
dpkg -i scumm
and press TAB. It will autocomplet name of your file. After all Enter and that should be fine.

Are you sure you are root? Type in X-terminal:
Code:
whoami
after gaining root.

I seem to have installed ScummVM; there is an icon for it in the menu now... however it doesn't appear to open... I just get a blank page with the 'clock' loading icon going round in the top line...
