RevdKathy has made extensively good arguements, Im not sure why you are so negative toward them mysticrokks. Clearly there is a large demand for MMS. I personally don't send mms messages often. However, I did receive a large number of MMS messages a month prior to my N900 investment. No MMS in this day and age is a bit silly, especially for a device that is "connected". Even if you dont use MMS and don't care, most of the rest of the world DOES. Even the iPhone you so preciously blessed in your example shipped without MMS for over 2 years. That was the biggest gripe of the community next to copy /paste. What happened? A number of jailbreak only MMS solutions were developed by intrepid developers, and for a decent profit. Even now in the Appstore there are a number of MMS apps. Its a money maker because a huge portion of the phone wielding population wants it and use it. Just agree to disagree and leave it at that instead of publicly dismissing another user and their ideas as stupid.

redkathys argument to me was that if i didnt use mms- i had no friends- thats all i rember, its a bit childish really.

and shink if this is a connected device- why is this a reason to have mms- surely the opposite is more valid ..

i have no problem with nokia getting mms- i never said i did- i said that it was old technology that will be fazed out, and nokia needs to sort out its bugs b4 it adds another function to its phone..this is just standard- i have no idea what your argument is.

"Even the iPhone you so preciously blessed in your example shipped without MMS for over 2 years."

are you trying to tell me that apple first made there phone rock solid with f/w and bug fixes b4 it added extra functions- please tell me what i am asking nokia to do differently..

"I personally don't send mms messages often" its funny how every person on these forums says this and yet is still for mms..

and i have mentioned many times a soloution to your problem's- i suppose the reason you lot dont use this soloution is obvious- you are just arguing for the sake of it - NONE OF YOU ACTUALLY USE MMS...

yes you can send mms on your n900

there are website's that you can do it from- the nokia n900 has an exeptional browser and you can browse for files to send to a telephone number..

sadly we cant do that to get potrait on txts, we cant do that to sort out the bugs in the phone, we cant do that to fix the power/reboot issues , we cant do that to get a half decent gps software, we cant do this to get imap emails..shall i go on....

mysticrokks,
Maybe you have short memory but this is what i remember:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=147
And your wonderful "answer".
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=149

What websites? Do they work globally?
Do you have data for whole community when you are speaking that "NONE OF YOU ACTUALLY USE MMS..." or are you again just extrapolating things beyond everyones imagination?

use google theres hundreds of em. its very easy to use.

and why are you not showing the messages b4 when she said i had no friends because i didnt use mms..

i told her to take a chill pill because she got her knickers in a twist- i could have really piped up at her for being abusive but no i didnt, i told the girl to chill out..

and again your quoting from me is out of context,.. i am not gonna troll through this thread to pick up every poster that has made that comment- but i have read it from so many, yet not heard people actually using it much themselves..

as you are so good at going through threads you do it-- i do offcourse realise you will try and find the few people that do use it regulary.. but at least it will waste your time. time of course you could be spending on google looking at websites that send mms.

Mystic,

I may personally not send MMS pictures much.. but a lot of my friends do. Even those with blackberries, and android phones that can check email and facebook. They MMS their friends *and* upload their pics to facebook. MMS is just easier.. and even in the US market - MMS is usually included with the various "plans" they offer, especially any of the "unlimited" this and that's.

Even a couple with the iPhone were happy as hell when they got MMS because sometimes they were getting left out when the other friends sent the MMS messages. Granted, most of my friends have smartphones - and most have email - so a lot of times they would *MMS* the friends with MMS phones, and then email the iPhone people

We laughed at them quite a bit because they were stuck in 1999. Now I love the N900, but it has the same problem. Lack of a "phone" feature that is so basic that even the new "free" phones they offer with contract at the US mobile companies have MMS. It's kind of funny to upgrade to a "smart" phone and yet a basic freebie phone has a feature the new "expensive" phone lacks.

But.. at least Nokia can somewhat get away with it - since this isn't really a "phone" so much a computer that happens to be capable of making phone calls. And I think it would be better off if the iPhone never added MMS support.. since then the iPhone and the n900 would have something (the only thing) in common - and the iPhone IS a phone, that pretends to be smart.

But since the iPhone added MMS .. that makes N900 one of the few devices that don't.. looks bad for a "super" phone to be missing something like that. No matter how much we say "it isn't a phone" though, people are still going to buy it as such - because it can make phone calls. People will still be upset and whiney about it missing "phone" features.. as is obvious on these forums. What just baffles me though.. is that since even "stupid" phones can do this.. you can't tell me it's really that hard to implement the feature..

Guys, guys, why all this argue.. There are people that still use MMS and it's slowly being implemented (check the brainstorm forum), so it's coming to the N900 sooner or later either by Nokia or by the community..

To people MMS is stupid, and to some people it's amazing.. And there are people (like myself) that barely have used MMS but still thinks that it's nice to have that option since if there's no way to send a small attachment (lets say I took a pic that I want to share at that moment with friends/family), that we would have the option to send MMS..

So why are we all arguing a lot about this?? It's going to lead no where.. because you can't convince a person that uses MMS not to use it anymore just because Nokia didn't have enough time to include this option (that's been available on ALL of their phones)... and same goes the other way..

And I do think that website is silly and most of it's post is even sillier!

MMS = Free to the receiver. Even with no data plan. Just like a phone call.

So I can send MMS to someone without any data plan and he/she sees the photo and vice versa.
It's such a simple concept and to some, it's something you just cannot do without.

I personally don't send much at all. Maybe 1 a month if that.
But I do receive it quite a bit and it's totally free to receive!

I guess we all want everything in a device. =P

If N900 didn't have GSM but could only voip, we'll have the same argument where some people will still praise it and some won't. =P

oh. yeah. 3G Video calls. That's another big thing missing. Grrr.

I've actually lost 2 clients and around $20,000 worth of work since having my N900 and no MMS, I don't really care because I'm already too busy. But saying no one uses MMS is just silly, there are plenty of people who use them for things other than pictures...those two people happened to have BlackBerries with out data plans, being on CDMA carriers they couldn't send anything more than 160 characters(BlackBerries on CDMA won't even split, they just stop) so they tried sending me a MMS with just text that was a forwarded proposal.

It's not that MMS is a vital feature, It just happens to be those few that I never got that were also some of the only ones I got in a year. The point here is that MMS is a basic feature, It's a basic phone feature, they got the rest right, My calls are crystal clear and SMS is done brilliantly.

To say anything is to be phased out is absolutely silly, Smartphone saturation is still tiny, with only ~10% of phones sold being Smartphones. That's like saying SMS needs to be phased out for eMail, even though Smartphone market share is increasing with readily available affordable phones, so has SMS from 17 Billion in 2000, to 250 Billion in 2001, with 500 Billion by 2004. While it's true that MMS accounts for a much smaller amount, in the hundreds of millions per-year, it too continues to grow and should not be ignored because a few "power users" feel there are better options.
