Just for grins see if you can install Xterm http://test.maemo.org/downloads/syst...uct_dba_page=3
it should be 1/2 way down the page. If you can then follow the link I posted earlier. If you can not install Xterm what about re-flashing your N800?

The last or near last line in the log should show which repository address cannot be reached.
I did that.
The last line of the log says:
W: Couldn't start source package list http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com

So did you disable that one? What about re-flash?

The only one that's enabled is "Nokia Catalogue" and it can't be disabled.
As to reflashing, I did the upgrade again this morning which didn't change anything.

Man that is strange. Did you do a backup before the re-flash and then used that backup? If so what about re-flash without a backup?

Yes. I did restore my backup. Do you think re-upgrading and not restoring would make the difference?

And I have to make a confession. I did this some time ago:
http://www.informit.com/guides/conte...9&ns=9905&rl=1
Then a couple of days ago, I did the regular upgrade (can't remember why). Maybe that caused my problem. I don't even think I'll ever use the R&D mode and wish I could get rid of it, but that's not possible if I can't use Xterm.

I would give it a try before sending it back. I heard it can take till the next big flood before Nokia will send it back (read some of the post on this).

Like I said if it was me I would re-flash and start fresh (no backup). I don't know what setting or conf you have change so a fresh start is what I would do. Yes you could say I am using a hammer to crack a nut by not using a backup.
