I have been taking some photos, but I'm not able to view them with the photo app. Keeps saying that there are no images. If I select custom and go into the folder, it still doesn't find any.

What am I missing?

Did you try to reboot the device?

another question, is there any chance you could turn the sound off
when you taking pictures?

But seriously, no there doesn't seem to be any way to specifically switch off the sound. Setting the profile to Silent seems to shut it up though.

Select the "Silent" profile and it will turn off camera sound as well.

Maybe you have your n900 connected by USB ?
All files and media cant be accessible while USB is connected to any computer.
