The idea is to test whether you can go to a https-protocol website. When you go to the website, the browser should also popup a yellow text giving information about certificate authorization or something like that (in your own language). You should see a web page that informs you're on F-secure mobile anti-virus test page.
Yeah i went there on the N900 and it said my connections were correct etc....

Ok. Good. That IP address seems to work for me. So DNS does not seem to be the issue. Could you try to go to the web address I posted earlier?
Are you using your own WiFi connection or a shared one? Do you own the WiFi box or do you use your school/other network?

yes using my own connection and i own my own box in my house. No shared networks.

did you ever try turning the modem/router off for thirty seconds? i had a different but similar problem which was cured that way.

Just to be on the safe side... WiFi can sometimes fool you.
Try going to repository with your browser:
https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com
You might get a warning about the certification. Just close the page/browser then. If it gets you there. It should work network wise. The bug is somewhere else.
Do you have any other type of connection that you could try? Some WiFi routers have tendencies to be tricky and mystic.

heres what i got when i went to the above link on my N900 browser:
could this be where the problem lies?
