Hmmm ... I dunno ... If you can find me a set of loud, short sounds, I can turn them into an alternative sound package, like, maybe "gaim-sounds-loud", or something. Let's see what kinds of sounds (if different) pidgin uses.

When I want to install gaim 2.0.0, it requires libgcrypt11 (>=1.2.2), but I can only find 1.2.0, will somebody tell me where to get 1.2.2?

You have to add the "Maemo Hackers" repository described at http://gaim.garage.maemo.org/

Hey, all!

I released version 2.0.0-0nix24 with the following additions:

- Made the buddy list "Alias..." context menu item work
- Added the Gaim 1.5 sounds as a new package: gaim-sounds-old

I have also updated the Web site at http://gaim.garage.maemo.org/ with some more information about repositories, and how to use the old sounds (they're not used by default). I have also decided to abandon the idea of a multi-page site. So, I merged the "tips" page with the main page.

thanks nix_nix!

i uninstalled 2.0.0-0nix23 and installed 2.0.0-0nix24. i've also installed the gaim-sounds-old. in gaim / tools / preferences / sounds

are these the correct settings?
sound method
method: automatic

sound options
X sounds when conversation has focus
enable sounds: always
volume: loudest

sound events:
X buddy logs in
X buddy logs out
X message received
X message receive begins conversation
X message sent
X person enters chat
X person leaves chat
X you talk in chat
X other talk in chat
X someone says your screen name in chat

when i tried to test some of the events, there are no sound. are my configurations correct??

I am also getting no sounds after upgrading to nix24. I just upgraded all pieces from nix23 and made no setting changes and did not install sounds-old.

I thought it was me as it is late and I need sleep..

Thank you, it solves the problem, how stupid am I...

But I'm wondering what's the reason, I can't see any libgcrypt11 (>1.2.2) in the list after I add Maemo Hackers, then gaim just doesn't require it...

CobraKC, I have updated the page at http://gaim.garage.maemo.org/ to include detailed information about how to set up custom sounds from the selection of Gaim 1.5 sounds.
