The application menu on the N900 accessible from the top left is divided in 2 parts, the second being accessible by the more... button in the bottom right corner on the first.
Why not have one big menu with all the icons in one overview so you can use the touchscreen to slide through all the apps at once? The second screen actually does this when you have enough apps in there.

thought the same the very first time is opened the second one. and i would really love to rearrange the apps order to suit my needs.

This is one of the great unsolved mysteries of the universe indeed. I wonder if even Nokia knows the answers to this question.

I filed an enhancement on Oct. 23 for this. See bug 5743. Seems to be fixed in PR1.2 by the looks of it.

a bit off topic, but the omi present ovi store and behind 'more' button hidden apps manager makes me smile every time.

That's why they have 4 homescreens full of space for shortcuts..
