If you scroll down, there are some useful answers in this thread, though it starts off about maemo4.

As mentioned in the other thread, Xarchiver needs the un* family of cli tools to read the various archive formats.

Install rootsh and become root before using apt get.

To become root, type "root" in the xterm window.

Be careful, as root you can delete or overwrite or break anything. It's computing without a life preserver.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

also, this things are not optified, right? meaning they will install in the root partition. which is not a good thing, because it will fill up and get us into a world of pain.
am I wrong? and is it hard to optify these things or is it just not worth it because they are so small?

:~# apt-get install unzip unrar
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package unzip is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package unzip has no installation candidate

What should I do?

You might need to enable the extras-devel repo first. You can do that in app manager, but you have to close that before using apt-get. Be sure to disable extras-devel again when you are done.
