No worries, I tried out aMSn when I first got my N900 too but it always lags and times out for me. Also the interface is a bit too cluttered for a device as small as the N900.

Code:
'rm cannot remove '/usr/share/applications/hildon/amsn.desktop':
No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing amsn (--remove):
subprocess post - removal script returned error exit status 1
Means it can't find file /usr/share/applications/hildon/amsn.desktop which should be there. Something went wrong when you installed it.
Hard to tell what is the best course of action now without knowing what happened. Probably force installing amsn again or just crating that file it tries to delete.

Nevertheless you might want to ask your amsn package source for help instead since it's not in extras if I'm not mistaken and I'm not sure how many more errors there will be and it seems to be a problem with uninstall script.

And yes it did remove fm-boost since you reported problems with both packages, I assumed it is better to remove both and then install again when it is fixed.

Cleaning up the mess by hands might not be easy. If you want to keep going...

Try installing package again, then removing it:
Code:
dpkg -i --force-all amsn-blabla.deb
dpkg --purge --force-all amsn
Also where did you get package from? I could probably try to install/remove it + check uninstall script.

You could always install ubuntu relatively easy. You can even install it from windows 7 so you don't have to use grub and still keep the windows 7 boot loader.
