Having had no luck so far on Nokia's own support forums, trying here as well...

I recently purchased a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT car audio player which supports among other things Bluetooth audio streaming, which uses the A2DP standard also used in Bluetooth headphones.

I'm wondering if the Nokia N800 supports A2DP, or if such support will be included in an upcoming/unofficial kernel version? And also of course whether the included or some other media player supports it. Thanks for any advice.

Try searching the forum for "A2DP".

a2dp is actually outside the kernel. You need 'plugz' from http://bluetooth-alsa.sourceforge.net/
Last time I checked it compiles fine in scratchbox. You can then use a2dp with any media player that supports output via alsa. Mplayer is a good option but needs to be recompiled. I put in a support request on maemo garage to enable alsa in future builds of mplayer.

Thanks for the help... I'll look into the ALSA deal.

And yeah, searching with A2DP did bring up some previous entries about the same issue... guess I'd searched with something too generic like Bluetooth previously when I didn't run across these.

Hi,

It would be very cool if N800 supported A2DP. I own Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset BH-501 and would be nice to pair it with N800. Hopefully this gets supported by Mplayer.

Now we just need to integrate it into a convenient gui. I'm thinking ukmp.

Just to let you know, I recently installed the Pioneer DEH-P9800BT in my Lotus Esprit, and last night got the Kagu player working with the A2DP "Bluetooth Audio" in the head unit. I'm very excited because that's why I went with the Pioneer unit. to begin with.
