I'm on 32bit Win7 and installed the phone as a Bluetooth device in Windows. A number of failures for Bluetooth peripheral devices were noted, but the base device appeared to install. I tried to move a file and the connection always fails to the computer.

Is anybody else having trouble with Win7 Bluetooth sharing?

N.B. Bluetooth via PC Suite works fine.

What error message do you get? It could be due to drm issues on your pc. I get a "file or folder is write protected" or something like that error on my xp pc once in a while as well when sending files TO my N900 from the pc. I just try sending the file to a different folder or try resending as the problem I encounter isn't consistent.

i had some problems too.
could connect to my laptop but after few seconds it disconnected.
i tried it a few times.
and anyhow it works for me now - with bluemaemo.

i believe these were the steps:
1. remove phone from pc bluetooth-list
2. remove pc from phone bluethooth-list
3. start bluemaemo, click on "wait for connection" and wait a few seconds.
4. on pc search for the device and connect to it (it always was recognized as "phone" when it hadn't worked... when it worked, it was recognized as "unknown" and then had the full HID-functionality)
5. enter pairing code on the phone
6. now it should make a connection automatically (if not i believe, that something went wrong, but you can try it out - if it doesn't work, repeat these steps)
7. try something on bluemaemo - mouse, keyboard for example

Is bluemaemo in the testing or devel repository?

When I use Petrovitch and try to share file it just says unable to connect. Even though the PC is viewable and has a green check mark. Strange!

i don't know.
as far as i understand the devel repository is only meant for people which are experienced because the programs there could cause data loss and system instability.
the program versions in testing should be more stable and less dangerous to use. (but the latest releases are in devel-rep)

this said just look for it in testing first and in devel only if you know what you're doing. (but i have to say that the latest bluemaemo seems to be very stable and well-coded ^^)

@ b666m, I asked as I didn't find it in the extras repository.

@ les, have you tried sending files via bluetooth from other phones?

Unfortunately this didn't work. The funny thing is I can sync outlook and send files from the PC fine. I just can't send from the phone to the PC.

strange.
BUT:
just do it the other way around.

you should be able to access the phone folders from windows-pc when you are connected via bluetooth, aren't you?
so just click your way through the folders and drag it from the phone to your pc on your pc.
