Arghhh! Thought I was going mad.

I've tried changing DNS settings - made no difference either over mobile network or wifi.

Always returns 404 error.

using get-apt update
doesn't help either.

I registered the UK CV version bug.. I didn't know there were others at the time.. but looking at the messages in the bug chatter, neither did the Maemo guys for a while

I wonder exactly how many different versions of the firmware there.. I was hoping for single digits.. preferably 1.. that was a big turn off for things like the N97 in which a black handset has a different firmware to a white one.. and the release schedule can be months apart! (unbranded uk, bought in flagship store.. 2 colours.. )

It is a shame to see Maemo moving from the single global version in Diablo and before, towards a mess of country and operator variants like in Symbian. It just slows down the process of releasing new firmware, and some variants tend to get delayed or missed entirely. Luckily, so far in Maemo we are at least able to flash to a global release without doing anything that voids the warranty.

If you got the phone earlier via MPD or the Nokia Flagship Store then it'll be 203, whereas if you got the phone recently on contract then it (apparently) should be 205.

I see they've just released 2009.51-1. Still no -205 version, and still no 205 update site

I think I'll probably try re-flashing my 205 with the global version on the weekend. Would be interested to hear if anyone does theirs first!

Kwljunky has already done that with his - see http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=49

I'd expect the updates for branded phones to be delayed by quite a bit - they'll have to wait for Vodafone to test & approve them.
